Bogor rains on a schedule that ignores the seasons

Two long-running weather stations sit inside the city, one at Baranangsiang beside Kebun Raya Bogor and one out at Dramaga. Across the 2001 to 2013 record the Baranangsiang station measured between 4,700 and 5,000 mm of rain a year, and the Dramaga station between 4,000 and 5,000 mm (Hidayat and Farihah, Jurnal Pengelolaan Sumber Daya Alam dan Lingkungan, 2020).

The daily averages tell you more about a Tuesday afternoon than the annual totals do. Baranangsiang averages 10 mm of rain a day and Dramaga 8 mm. Rain at Baranangsiang runs high from October right through February, which is a five month stretch rather than a season you can schedule around.

Mean daily temperature at Baranangsiang is 27 degrees Celsius and mean humidity is 80 percent. So the useful question for a weekly class in Bogor is not whether it will rain during the term. It is what the provider does on the afternoons when it does.

What should you ask about a session your child misses?

Get the missed-session answer before you pay for a term, not after. The policies differ widely and they are rarely written on the listing.

There are three separate questions inside it. Who decides a session is cancelled, the provider or the weather.

What happens to a session your child misses for their own reasons, such as illness. And whether a make-up session is offered at a fixed time, offered subject to space, or not offered at all.

An outdoor or partly outdoor programme in this city will lose sessions. That is not a mark against it.

Indoor play and a class are not the same purchase

Bogor listings mix two products that look alike in a search result and behave nothing alike once you have paid. One is a drop-in play venue, where you buy access for a stretch of time and the child leads. The other is a taught course with a syllabus, where you buy a term and someone is responsible for what your child can do at the end of it.

The billing unit is the tell. Access is usually quoted per session.

Courses are more often sold as a voucher covering a set number of visits, or as a monthly fee. A per-session figure will always look smaller than a term figure, so read the unit before you compare two listings against each other.

How safe is an indoor trampoline park, really?

This is worth answering with numbers because the alternatives are a scare story or a sales page. Industry exposure data from 18 safety-standard-compliant parks in Australia and the Middle East, covering 2017 to 2019, put the injury rate at 1.14 per 1,000 jumper hours, with 11 percent of reported injuries counted as significant.

Rates were highest in the high-performance areas, at 2.11 per 1,000 jumper hours, and in the inflatable bag and foam pit areas, at 1.91. Across the study period the overall rate fell by 0.72 percent a month (Teague and colleagues, Pediatrics, 2024).

The hospital end of the same picture is narrower and more specific. Of 48 Australian children hospitalised after a trampoline park injury between November 2018 and December 2021, the median age was 9.5 years and 72.3 percent were hurt by a fall on the trampoline rather than off it. Upper limb was the most commonly injured region, at 56.3 percent, and every limb injury in that group was a fracture (Tsoi and colleagues, Journal of Paediatrics and Child Health, 2025).

Read together, the two findings point the same way. The risk is not the edge of the equipment, it is what happens in the middle of it when two children land at the same moment.

The parks in the incidence study met a safety standard and their rate was low and falling, which means the thing you are inspecting at the door is not the padding. It is whether one jumper per trampoline is actually enforced, whether age zones are kept separate in practice rather than on a sign, and whether the floor staff are watching the equipment or working the counter.

Which age is the listing actually built for?

Across the Bogor listings the accepted ages run from 1 to 18, but no single provider covers that span and none is trying to. The number you see is the accepted range, which is not the same as the age the room is built around.

Play venues are bounded at the top by their equipment. Once a child outgrows the frame, the visit turns into supervision rather than play.

Taught courses are bounded at the bottom by attention and, for anything involving letters or numbers, by reading. A child of 6 and a child of 14 can appear inside the same listed range and have completely different afternoons.

So ask what the middle of the group looks like rather than what the edges permit. If the answer is a shrug, the range on the listing was set to avoid turning anyone away, not to describe the class.

Reading a Bogor address before you commit to a term

An address on a listing is not always the address you would drive to. Operators with branches across Jabodetabek sometimes carry a head office in the address field while the venue that serves you sits somewhere else entirely, so confirm which branch a listing refers to before you plan a weekly trip around it.

Then measure the trip in the conditions you will actually travel in. A route timed on a dry Sunday morning is not the route you get at five in the afternoon in February, and distance is the most common reason a family quietly stops going after week three.

Ratings help here, but only where there are enough of them. A rating built on one or two reviews tells you about one or two families. The listings below show a rating only where a provider has gathered enough for it to mean anything, which is worth more than a perfect score with nothing behind it.
